Coach McGregor Named 2004 NFL High School Football Coach of the Year

Thank you to Brian Westbrook, former DeMatha Stag and current standout running back for the Philadelphia Eagles, for his nomination of Coach McGregor as the 2004 NFL High School Coach of the Year!

NEW YORK (AP) - DeMatha Catholic (Md.) High School coach William McGregor is the 2004 NFL High School Football Coach of the Year.

McGregor has been the coach at DeMatha for the past 23 years and was nominated by Philadelphia Eagles running back Brian Westbrook, one of his former players.

"Bill was and continues to be an inspiration and source of support to me," Westbrook said.

Eight of McGregor's teams have been ranked nationally by USA Today and 275 of his players have attended college on full football scholarships.

"My philosophy when it comes to coaching is to instill positive qualities in my players that they can carry with them for the rest of their lives, no matter what situation they encounter or occupation they choose to pursue," McGregor said. "I firmly believe that by emphasizing the importance of always having a positive attitude that mountains can be moved and situations altered."
